1, Thurs Depart USA to China. Your flight includes meals, drinks, and
in-flight entertainment for your journeyDAY 2, Fri Arrive in Beijing and transfer to your hotel. Balance of the day at leisure: BEIJING DAY 3, Sat Enjoy a full day tour to the Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven. Begin at Tian An Men Square, the largest public square in the world. Continue to visit the Imperial Palace. Lunch in a local Chinese restaurant. Then visit the Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace. This evening, choose an optional Peking Duck Dinner ($32) (B, L): BEIJING DAY 4, Sun Full day excursion to visit the Great Wall of China. Walk along the promenades to the towers to view the magnificent scenery. Visit the Ming Tombs before returning to Beijing. (B, L): BEIJING DAY 5, Mon Day at leisure. Late afternoon transfer to a local restaurant where you will enjoy an early dinner, before boarding the train for your overnight journey to Xian (B, D): TRAIN DAY 6, Tues This morning, transfer to your hotel for breakfast. Later, enjoy a full day tour of Xian's antiquities. Tour includes the archaeological site at the tomb of China's first emperor where 8,000 finely sculptured terracotta soldiers and horses have been discovered. Visit the City Wall, one of the largest, ancient, military defense systems built during the old Tang Dynasty to fortify the city. Later, trace the beginnings of Chinese civilization at the Provincial Museum (B, L): XIAN DAY 7, Wed This morning, enjoy a half day sightseeing of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the City Gate. In the afternoon, transfer to the airport for your flight to Chongqing. Upon arrival, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, then transfer to board your ship on the Yangtze River (B, D): YANGTZE RIVER DAY 8, Thurs Cruise to Fengdu, the "Ghost City," and view the temples at Mingshan Hill (alternatively, the cruise may visit Wanxian or Shibaozhai) (B, L, D): YANGTZE RIVER DAY 9, Fri Sail through Qutang Gorge. Dock at Wushan for an excursion through the Small Three Gorges along the Daning River. Continue this afternoon through Wu Gorge and see the fabled Twelve Peaks. This evening, a folklore show at Zigui (B, L, D): YANGTZE RIVER DAY 10, Sat Sail through Xiling Gorge. Visit the Three Gorges Dam near Sandouping Village. This afternoon, disembark your ship at Yichang to board your flight to Shanghai. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel (B, L): SHANGHAI DAY 11, Sun This morning, tour the major attractions of Shanghai. Wander through the Yuyuan Gardens and experience the old world charm of the waterfront Bund. Afternoon at leisure (B): SHANGHAI DAY 12, Mon Transfer to the airport for your departure flight (B).
